4g era is long gone and people in India are rushing towards getting a 5G Device so that they can get maximum speed and unlimited Internet from Jio and Airtel which are the only operators providing 5g services. But, the main problem is that there is no unlimited Internet and this 5G is far different from unlimited anything.
Reality of Unlimited Internet: I am not talking about unlimited 5g but any company claiming to provide unlimited Internet is clearly lying because it is not possible, If even a single factor is limited then your Internet cannot be unlimited. Be it speed, data or time. In our case time is limited so if they provide unlimited speed that cannot be counted by any way (which is next to impossible) even then we have 24 hours in a day and that means if we keep on using the internet we will be tired and 24 hours will surely pass and we will end up using limited amount of data so here unlimited Internet is a biggest lie you will ever hear in telecom industry. In most of the cases there is FUP (Fair Usage Policy) Where you speed will be reduced after using certain amount of data.
Not All Smartphone works equally on 5G: If you think all 5G smartphones works the same when it comes to Internet speed then you are wrong, speed depends on the modem which is a very important part of a SoC which is also known as processor of the smartphone, So if you are using a budget smartphone which mid or low range cpu then the network quality and 5g speed will not be good as flagship smartphones. Some smartphones does not support bands that are used by these two operators so you will not get the speed in these devices.
Not All Operators are same: Even network providers are not same in terms of providing 5g services, In our case Airtel and Jio both have 5g networks but there networks are very different. Jio is a standalone network which means the network is made separately from 4g and it’s a independent network. Whereas Airtel works on Non-standalone network that means it relies on existing 4g network so speed from both of these networks would be very different.
Network Coverage & Challenge: The biggest challenge these companies face is to rollout 5G Services in all cities and villages as 5g requires almost 4 times more towers, repeaters and machines to provide services. We have 5g In all major and big cities but in Villages and small towns people are still waiting for 5g to arrive. Most of the people in small cities are getting 5g sign on their phones and they are thinking that 5G is working in their phones but in Reality they are not getting real 5G but a mark and they are getting much lower speed then a 4g connection gives, This is because 5g works best when there are more towers and repeaters which are missing.
I am not saying that 5g technology is bad or we will not get it properly. I am just saying that we need to wait longer than this to get a stable 5g connection in remote areas and small cities.
