Jio, Airtel & Vi Will Increase 15% Data Plan Prices Soon
Its already second half of year 2026 and we are getting news of increased data plan prices which are coming from all telecom operators in India including Jio, Airtel and Vi. This is surely going to happen soon as prices of everything is going up due to chip shortage and Ai boom and you name it, everything is becoming expensive.

There is a constant pressure on these telecom companies to increase their ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) to pay their spectrum and past debts to government and to further improve their services and work towards next generation of services like 6G and satellite Internet. The free data era is going to end as companies are looking to make profits from 5G and other services like OTT Bundles and Data Add-ons.
Monetizing technologies like 5G is still very difficult for most of the companies in the world as people are still not ready to pay premium prices for 5g services and fast Internet connection, The improvement from 4g to 5g is not something that people are noticing much in their daily lives, Don’t get me wrong, 5G is amazingly fast but if you have experienced true 4g then you must have noticed that 90% of your work can be done with that Internet and you don’t need ultra fast Gbps internet in your life with premium prices.
Indian telecom companies are now moving forward with 5G Monetization to get more money and invest that further in technologies that can be better monetized. 5G is also a perfect technology to build products and services that can be indirectly monetized, like OTT, Live TV, Cloud Gaming and Cloud PC in Jio.
The solution for this upcoming price hike in coming months is to get annual plans so that you can be good to go for next 12 months or switch to lower data plans and rely on broadband if you use internet indoors. BSNL on the other hand is still struggling to provide good services all around the nation and still rolling out 4g and 5g in all areas.
