In this post I will tell you why only calling plans are very important in Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL and what these companies should introduce such plans immediately. What government and TRAI directed them on this.
As we know WiFi and home broadband is getting very popular in India and without Internet at home we cannot imagine our daily lives if we watch reels, do studies or work. Internet is a necessity hence people are ready to pay a fix amount monthly to get a stable Internet connection at their homes. Mobile data be it 4g or 5g is still very expensive and people who travel a lot or stays outdoors most of the time does not have this fixed broadband or wifi facility so they use mobile data from Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL. They pay very expensive prices in the form of data plans which starts from 300 Rupees on average and they get around 1.5gb per month. 5G is unlimited as per Airtel and Jio if you pay more than 300 rs. But the coverage is still limited to big cities.
Now comes the real problem which is faced by people who does not want to use the mobile data but have to pay for it because they want to keep their sim cards active due to many reasons like incoming calls, they have given that number in the bank so getting otp is very important on that number. People who still use feature phone for calling only are paying for monthly data plans as well as there are no plans which allows only calling feature.
Subscribers are paying for services that they never use on their phones.
To solve this problem Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has introduced a rule which states that these companies must launch only calling plans so that elderly people or anyone who uses calls and sms should not pay for the data. These brands will soon launch these plans in India.
